Hi there everyone! I hope the day is treating you well. It is for me. I gotta represent up in here. When I was a little kid, The X-Files was totally my favorite TV show. To this day, it's up there. It kinda tackles BSG when I am feeling nostalgic, but even if it wasn't your cup of tea, you've gotta respect. The X-Files changed a lot of things for fandom. It created terms, made fic CRAZY accessible, made female characters have action figures and not just Barbie dolls, it inspired a generation of girls interested in science, it inspired a generation of crushes on Mulder, on Scully, hell on both. The X-Files has forever changed pop culture in the best way possible. Its influence is felt and referenced on a bunch of tv and frankly, it's just love. I can go on and on about how it totally messed with my notions of what is considered a romantic relationship, and how I want to be friends with someone and that's the love story I want instead of the harlequin romance several of my non-X-Files watching peers wished for. The X-Files keeps me from being a scared little bitch when I watch shows meant to frighten.
I'm rambling. I know. This show? It shaped my youth, and I will love it forever for being so perfect in its imperfection. But this episode, one of my personal favorites, never stops making me smile. The way that it's filmed, the dialogue, the lolzy moments, the banter between Mulder & Scully, the throwback to Mulder being a fan of Elvis, the CHER! No lie, I first heard the song at the end (Walking In Memphis by Cher) in this episode, and it is just one of my favorites. And now, without further adieu, a little bit of my X-Files love.
SURPRISE!SONG
Walking In Memphis - Cher
Because that night, my flail was GREAT. MULDER AND SCULLY DANCED ALL CUTESY, Y'ALL! WHEN THE SONG WAS ALL "BUT DO I REALLY FEEL THE WAY I FEEL?" ANSWER: YES, YES YOU DO! *\o/*

I remember after I watched that for the first time too. I was SUPER "OMGOMGTHEYDANCEDINANILOVEYOUWAYWITHEACHOTHERSQUEEEEEEEEEE" mood. Still one of the best episodes of the series and Season five for the win. (WORD about the friendship to love thing. With all my friends dying over Dawson's Creek or whatever the hot show was then idk I was like YO I'M REALLY HAPPY FOR YOU BUT THE X-FILES HAS THE BEST WILL THEY OR WON'T THEY OF ALL TIME! OF ALL TIME!)
ALSO LOOK HOW PRETTY SCULLLY'S HAIR IS IN THIS EPISODE!

This series has been my first TV obsession and I it set the bar very high for all the other shows I've watched through the years.

Walking in Memphis was originally done by Marc Cohn (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JzuZW-Lcns) and was one of my favorite songs of all time and then it showed up in the X-Files and it was just wonderful and beautiful.
love it :)
